My Smug Mug
Silvana Ximena was born in Peru the daughter of a cameraman and an Associated Press journalist. She spent her childhood in the gritty borough of Brooklyn and went on to graduate from Alfred University with a BA in Fine Arts. With this dynamic background, Silvana is accustomed to doing what it takes to get "the shot".
With widespread experience she has photographed a variety of subjects in both New York and in her native Peru. From South American panorama to fly on the wall flashes of chic New York wedding receptions, Silvana has blown the bulbs in a motley of settings. In Versailles, she framed the Chateau de Versailles and its distinctive gardens. During the summer of 2005, she snapped a portraiture spread of regulars enjoying their rare brand of life and booze in trendy SoHo. The production was appropriately tagged "Raising the Bar".
But enough is never enough. Mirroring her traveler's background, Silvana pushes the boundaries of her subjects, looking ever to explore new territory.
